Samsung have announced they will be releasing the new Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini on November 8th in the UK. There was speculation surrounding the mini, but now it is official. The downside it doesn’t seem to be a smaller version of its big brother, it’s not as powerful and has a 5MP camera, however, not to be dis-heartened it will be running Android 4.1 and although the price hasn’t been released, there is rumour that it will be around the £300 mark.

Other news regarding Samsung is there are rumours about a new 7.5in Samsung Galaxy Note, with the aim of filling the gap between the Google Nexus and their Galaxy Note. Apparently speculation began when test certification was listed for two models and the model numbers of GT-N reflects back to the Note II and Galaxy 10.1. But then there is another listing with the prefix of GT-T which is something completely different. So there we have it, nobody knows, but one thing is for sure, with the Apple Ipad mini making waves, Samsung won’t be letting themselves get swept away.

The little brother of the Ipad has the world of tech flying with rumours about release dates, manufacturing, the unveiling, there are so many hear says that pin-pointing the truth is like spotting a mouse in a cornfield.

However, if we look at the reasons for a mini Ipad, then we may glean a little bit of truth. Firstly, the Ipad has gained a bit of weight since its first appearance, whereas the likes of the Kindle Fire and Google Nexus & and Hook HD are lighter and at a better price to suit many budgets. A good reason for Apple to consider this market, also there are rumours October is the date for unveiling, avoiding stealing the thunder of the Iphone 5.

What else is going round the mill about the little un’. Well, of course we need to think about the price, what will this latest piece of Apple technology cost us? Recent quotes flying about are around the £200 mark, jeepers, seems they might be serious about the budget market.

Let’s just see what Christmas brings, as if it is going to make an appearance, who wouldn’t want that in their stocking.

Back in September, not very long ago the iPod 5th Generation was revealed, next to the iPhone 5. Now it hadn’t been upgraded along with the 4s but now it has been given the upgrade it so needed. It measures 4ins diagonally and it also sports a new body design, lighter and sleeker than previous versions. Plus there are some vivid colours to choose from, if you like life to be colourful rather than monochrome.

Alongside, the mentioned upgrades there is in the video shooting, the last iPod could only manage 720p the new version has leapt to 1080p, impressive. If you needed more convincing to upgrade your iPod then note, there is no contract and you can do just as much as on an iPhone, except the obvious use of a phone and it is much cheaper to own.

The latest news is there are rumours of them about to be dispatched, pre-orders have been debited off of credit cards and there is also chat of Mac users being notified of the item being ready to ship. Although Apple hasn’t stated a specific date, it won’t be long before they hit the shops for Christmas.

Photokina 2012 is in action, this is where the new cameras are revealed, it only happens every two years and there has been a lot of excitement surrounding it. It began on 17th September and there appears to be some reason for a lot of buzz, especially with Canon.

The Canon EOS 6D DSLR has become the lightest weight DSLR in the world, it has a 20.2megapixel camera and it is also the first in the Canon range to feature Wi-Fi and GPS. But that is not all Canon are offering there is also the Canon Powershot SX50 HS sports, this little number has a 50x optical zoom.

But it’s not just Canon at Photokina, there is also Samsung, Fujifilm and Olympus as you would expect, however the latter two are sporting a more retro style of camera, although they are fully modernised to the discerning buyer, they are an acquired taste.

There is one thing for sure; the amateur and professional photographer will not be disappointed with the latest advances in camera technology.

Oh how rumours run rife within the gadget world, none more so than the speculative chatter about the launch of the Wii U. Apparently it has been allegedly leaked that it will launch on 18th November. It has been said that the leak happened accidentally, as they normally do, from a company called Performance Designed Products (PDP).

There has been backtracking on this leak, as expected, but it still not clear if this is the release date. However, there is a bright side, if people are already talking about it, then their marketing is definitely getting off to a flying start, this in turn could be good news for Nintendo as they posted a loss in April 2012 of £329 million, as sales of the Wii and Nintendo 3DS curtailed. Could this be what they need to boost sales for Christmas?

Never let it be said that Blackberry aren’t determined, as they are. The latest in the world of tech gossip is the development of a new 10in screen Playbook. Their previous version didn’t fly off the shelves, as its competitors in the high end market are very successful. So what will make the difference for Blackberry if this new model is to be released. It features everything you would expect form RIM, plus there seems to be a 10in display, along with a SIM card slot and an LED light flash near to the camera. Now it could all be a ruse, apparently the code name for it is Blackforest and if it is to be released it won’t be until middle of 2013.

Other news and as always the iPhone is centre of attention, this time tongues have been wagging about the iPhone5 again, which if you remembered turned out to be the iPhone 4s, well this time it’s meant to be released at the end of 2012. But again, there is nothing definite, but in September Apple should be letting everyone know when they take to the stage, as they do every year. According to some this version is what will be the legacy of Steve Jobs, so we can only assume it will be something very special.

There are rumours everywhere at the moment, from the potential for the iPad 4 to be released and not forgetting the whispers of the iPhone 5 with a longer screen on the handset. It is also claimed the smartphone is in full production in Japan. Could there be any more news about Apple products, well let’s have a look, oh yes; 7th August could be an interesting date, as this is when the iPhone 5 could be launched, best to mark it down in your diary.

It’s not only Apple that have set tongues wagging, there is also Samsung, with the new Galaxy Note due to be revealed in August, there seems to be a lot happening that month. However, Sony and their PS3 could be up for a revamp, maybe even becoming the PS4 but this rumour seems to be avoiding the summery month of August and heading towards the year 2014, quite a way off in the future.

But the best bit of news, although not a gadget, is the clear bendy TV’s, not available yet, before you get too excited, LG is trying to develop the screens, apparently Samsung are looking to be developing the idea also, who will be the first to get these into the main stream? Once developed, the screens will be able to be viewed anywhere in the home, attach it your headboard on your bed, or your garden fence, limitless. Although they will probably be used mainly for advertising on bus-stops and such.

Last month Sony announced their new smartphone, the budget Sony Xperio Miro, which will be available for the price of £125. This is a very good price for those who want apps and tech at their fingertips, but at a fraction of the price of the big boy smartphones.

The Miro comes with a 5MP camera and being a Sony you expect good audio, which this has, however you will have to wait as there is no release date given. Maybe they are thinking of releasing it for Christmas, perfect for a youngster’s first phone.

For all you camera lovers out there, you will be happy to know that Samsung have unveiled the EX2F, not only has it got Wi-Fi for sharing images, it has the largest aperture of any compact camera out there at the moment. It has a dual capture system, meaning you can take video and stills at the same time.

This beauty of a camera should be ready to buy in August and if you are keen to part with your cash, then you’ll be pleased to know it will come in at £429.

Acer Iconia Tab A510 is due to be seen in shops soon and why may this be of interest? Well, a low price tag will drive many sales but that’s not all, the power of the Tegra 3 Platform means this is not just any budget tablet, it’s very fast. It may look, dare we say a teeny bit dated, but when its performance is just below the iPad and Asus, then £350 seems great value for money.

Other news, HTC is apparently becoming the snob of the smart phone world, with the CEO Peter Chou saying they are not looking to produce cheap phones. Their strategy seems to be focused on the mid to high end market as they use quality materials and this is reflected in their brand. It’s not surprising a strong stance has to be made and with so many smart phones on the market, HTC may eventually become the brand to have, but they will have to battle past Apple and Samsung first, not an easy feat.

For the strangest bit of news that we all knew would eventually happen is, the Government snooping on emails. Apparently we’ll all be kept safe from harm if this was allowed to proceed, giving the police access to your internet history. Is this the even bigger big brother or completely necessary because of our changing lifestyles?

Budget smartphones are everywhere but can the new Blackberry Curve make an impact in this market, well it looks like a curve but it’s not a touchscreen and the buttons are not touch sensitive. But it has FM radio and wireless hotspot connectivity.

It is what it is, there doesn’t really seem to be anything special about it but if your main aim is to just make phonecalls, send text messages and check your emails, you’ll love the battery life you get with the phone. It’s priced around £150, but if you compare it with others on the market at the same pricing level, it falls short. The 9320 is worth buying if you can haggle or there is an offer going on.
